Krea and ArtCraft both bring many AI models together in one place, but they feel very different to use. Krea is a fast, polished browser platform known for real-time generation and quick exploration. ArtCraft is an open-source desktop and web studio where you build a scene in 2D or 3D before a model renders it.

The short answer

Choose Krea for the fastest path from idea to image in a browser, real-time sketch-to-image, and LoRA training. Choose ArtCraft for precise composition, 3D staging, consistent multi-shot scenes, and an open-source tool you own.

Workflow and ease of use

Krea is designed to get out of your way. Its real-time models update the image as you type or draw, which makes it excellent for brainstorming. It also offers Krea Nodes, a visual editor for building multi-step workflows, an App Builder for turning them into reusable tools, and an agent that plans and runs generations across models.

ArtCraft asks a little more of you up front and gives more control in return. You can start with a simple prompt, but its strength is building the scene: layering cutouts, placing 3D meshes, posing characters, and choosing the camera. See the 3D compositing tutorial for what that looks like.

If your work involves sequences, like storyboards, comics, or short films, ArtCraft's Image to Location and character posing tools are built for keeping the set and cast consistent. If you produce lots of single images and want speed, Krea's real-time loop is hard to beat.

Models

ArtCraft's README catalog covers 62 models across five categories, from Nano Banana Pro and GPT Image 2 to Seedance 2.0, Kling, Veo, Hunyuan 3D, Suno, and Marble worlds. Check the live status on our models page.

Krea combines its own models, including its latest in-house image model, Krea 2, with a broad set of third-party image, video, 3D, and lipsync models. On Krea's Basic plan, video access is limited to selected models; the Pro plan unlocks all of them.

Prices were checked on the official ArtCraft and Krea pricing pages in October 2026. Credits and compute units are not interchangeable: each platform prices models differently. Krea states that its Basic allowance covers about 64 Nano Banana 2 generations or 20 Seedance 2.0 videos; ArtCraft estimates 1,000 credits cover about 250 Nano Banana images or 63 seconds of Seedance 2.0. Compare the models you actually plan to use.

Note

ArtCraft has a pricing option Krea's plans don't advertise: you can connect your own provider keys and existing subscriptions, such as FAL, Grok, Midjourney, Sora, or World Labs, and pay those providers directly. See how ArtCraft pricing works.

Ownership

Krea is a hosted service: your access depends on your subscription. ArtCraft's message is "Stop renting from websites." The app is open source, yours to keep, and buildable from source, even if you stop paying for credits. Whether that matters depends on how much you value control over your tools.

Who should choose which

Choose Krea if you:

  • want instant, real-time feedback while you sketch or type,
  • prefer a browser tool with zero installation,
  • want to train LoRAs on your own characters or style,
  • value a free daily allowance for experimenting.

Choose ArtCraft if you:

  • need precise layouts, poses, and camera angles,
  • make sequences that need consistent characters and locations,
  • want an open-source app you own,
  • want to use your own API keys or existing subscriptions.

Verdict

Krea is the better exploration tool; ArtCraft is the better directing tool. Many creators will happily use both: Krea to find the look, ArtCraft to stage and render the final shots.
