If you search for Freepik today, you will land on Magnific. Freepik rebranded its platform under the name of the upscaler it acquired in 2024, and freepik.com now redirects to magnific.com. It remains one of the biggest all-in-one creative platforms, combining AI image, video, and audio generation with a stock library of more than 250 million assets. ArtCraft takes a narrower, deeper approach: an open-source studio for composing scenes in 2D and 3D before an AI model renders them.

The short answer

Choose Magnific (Freepik) if you want stock assets, upscaling, many AI models, and design tools under one subscription. Choose ArtCraft if you want precise scene composition, consistent characters and locations, and an open-source tool you own.

What each platform is built for

Magnific is built for breadth. Alongside AI generation it offers pro editing tools for images, video, and design; music, voice, and sound effect generation; Spaces, a shared canvas for team workflows; brand kits; API access; and even a "Magnific for ComfyUI" integration. Its stock library makes it a one-stop shop for marketing teams.

ArtCraft is built for depth in one area: controlling the composition of AI images and video. You stage the scene with cutouts, 3D meshes, and posed characters, set the camera, and render with the model of your choice. Its Image to Location and character posing tools keep sets and characters consistent across shots, which matters for storyboards, comics, and films.

Models

Both platforms offer many of the same frontier models, such as Nano Banana, Seedance, Kling, Veo, and MiniMax. Magnific's pricing page also lists its in-house Magnific One image model, Seedance 2.5, GPT image models, Flux.2, Recraft, Wan, and audio models like Google Lyria 3 and ElevenLabs music.

ArtCraft's catalog adds categories Magnific doesn't emphasize: 3D mesh models like Hunyuan 3D, Tripo3D, Meshy, and Rodin, and world models like Marble, which power its 3D scene tools. Check every ArtCraft model and its status on our models page.

ArtCraft prices are from the official pricing page in October 2026. Magnific prices are as reported in independent reviews from August 2026, because the official Magnific pricing page loads prices dynamically; confirm there before buying. Credits are not comparable across platforms. For example, Magnific lists Nano Banana Pro at 75 credits per image, while ArtCraft estimates about 67 Nano Banana Pro images per 1,000 credits.

Note

Magnific's subscription also includes premium stock content and a commercial AI license, which ArtCraft doesn't offer. If you need stock photos and illustrations anyway, factor that in. If you only need generation, ArtCraft's own-key and existing-subscription options can be cheaper. See how ArtCraft pricing works.

Ownership

Magnific is a subscription service, though it offers a 30-day refund guarantee and no cancellation fees. ArtCraft is open source and yours to keep, and you can pay model providers directly with your own keys. ArtCraft's README even mentions interest in supporting existing aggregator subscriptions like Freepik's in the future.

Who should choose which

Choose Magnific (Freepik) if you:

  • need stock photos, vectors, and templates as well as AI,
  • want professional upscaling built in,
  • work in a marketing or design team that needs brand kits and shared spaces,
  • prefer one subscription that covers everything.

Choose ArtCraft if you:

  • want to compose each shot precisely with 3D staging and posing,
  • make sequences that need consistent characters and sets,
  • prefer open-source software you own,
  • want to bring your own API keys or existing subscriptions.

Verdict

Magnific is the Swiss Army knife for creative teams; ArtCraft is a specialist tool for directing AI imagery. They overlap on models, but the reason to pick one over the other is everything around the models: stock and design tools on one side, scene control and ownership on the other.
